Cookie Policy – Butterfly Soiree

This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, which ones we use on our website, why we use them, and how you can control them — so you can browse with complete confidence.

01

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website saves to your browser when you visit. They are widely used to make websites work properly, remember your preferences, and provide website owners with information about how their site is being used.

Cookies are not programs and cannot carry viruses or malware. They simply store small pieces of information that make your browsing experience smoother and help us understand how our website is performing.

Cookies can be session cookies — deleted automatically when you close your browser — or persistent cookies, which remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them manually.

Butterfly Soiree uses cookies only to operate our website effectively and understand how visitors use it. We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles or track you across other websites.

02

Types we use

Our website uses four categories of cookies. Here is what each one does and whether it can be disabled:

03

Cookies on this site

The following cookies may be present when you visit butterflysoiree.com:

  • WordPress core cookies — set automatically by WordPress to manage sessions and maintain basic site functionality. These are essential and cannot be disabled.
  • Contact form cookies — if you use our contact form, a cookie may remember your name and email on return visits so you don’t have to re-enter them.
  • Google Analytics (_ga, _gid, _gat) — if active, these track page views and sessions in aggregate. No personal identification. Opt out via Google’s opt-out tool.
  • Google Maps — if a map is embedded, Google may set cookies to display it. Governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.
  • Social media embeds — Instagram or Pinterest embeds may set their own cookies. See Instagram and Pinterest privacy policies for details.

04

Third-party cookies

Some pages on our website include tools or content provided by third parties. These providers may set their own cookies on your device when you interact with their embedded content. Butterfly Soiree does not control third-party cookies and is not responsible for how those providers collect or use your data.

05

WordPress & plugins

The Butterfly Soiree website is built on WordPress using the BeTheme framework. WordPress and its plugins may set cookies as part of normal operation. Common examples include:

  • wordpress_logged_in_[hash] — indicates when an admin is logged in. Not set for regular visitors.
  • wordpress_test_cookie — a temporary cookie that checks whether cookies are enabled. Deleted on browser close.
  • wp-settings-[number] — stores admin interface preferences. Only set for logged-in admin users.
  • wfvt_[number] / wordfence_verifiedHuman — set by Wordfence security plugin (if active) to verify human visitors and protect against bots.

As our website and plugins are updated, specific cookies in use may change. This policy will be updated accordingly.

06

Your choices

You have several options for managing cookies on your device:

  • Browser settings — all modern browsers allow you to view, block, or delete cookies. See the table below for direct links.
  • Private / Incognito mode — prevents persistent cookies from being stored during your session.
  • Google Analytics opt-out — install the Google Analytics Opt-out Add-on to exclude your visits from analytics data.
  • Social platform settings — manage tracking preferences directly within your accounts on Instagram, Pinterest, and other platforms.
Browser Cookie settings
Google Chrome Manage cookies in Chrome
Safari Manage cookies in Safari
Firefox Manage cookies in Firefox
Microsoft Edge Manage cookies in Edge

Please note: disabling essential cookies may prevent certain parts of the website from working correctly, including contact forms and navigation features.

07

Do Not Track

Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” (DNT) setting that sends a signal to websites requesting that your browsing not be tracked. There is currently no universal standard for how websites must respond to DNT signals.

At this time, our website does not alter its behavior in response to DNT signals. However, we do not engage in cross-site behavioral tracking, and your data is never sold to advertisers.

08

California residents

If you are a California resident, the CCPA and CPRA give you specific rights regarding cookies and tracking technologies:

  • Right to opt out of sale or sharing — Butterfly Soiree does not sell or share personal data collected through cookies for behavioral advertising.
  • Right to know — you may request details about the categories of data collected through cookies and how it is used.
  • Right to delete — you may request deletion of personal data collected via cookies, subject to certain legal exceptions.
  • Right to non-discrimination — exercising your cookie preferences will not affect your access to our website or services.

To exercise your rights, email info@butterflysoiree.com or manage cookies directly through your browser settings as described in the Your Choices section above.

09

Policy changes

We may update this Cookie Policy as our website evolves, new plugins are added, or legal requirements change. When updates are made, the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page will be revised accordingly.

Your continued use of the website after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
